Betfred League One Preview | Sunday 7 May

Betfred League One Preview | Sunday 7 May

It’s second versus third in Betfred League One as Doncaster face off against Workington Town in the competition’s tie of the weekend.

The Dons have been in blistering form so far this season, winning all five of their league fixtures to date. Workington, meanwhile, are also in good form having won four of their opening five games.

Doncaster have been victorious from their last three home fixtures against Town, but despite this, the Cumbrian side will be confident of securing their first win at the Eco-Power Stadium since their 30-18 League One Semi-Final triumph in September 2018.

Elsewhere, Oldham host Cornwall in an early kick off at the Vestacare Stadium.

Stuart Littler’s Roughyeds will be looking to return to winning ways following their 26-22 defeat at Doncaster last time out, whilst Cornwall will also be desperate to bounce back following their heavy loss at Dewsbury in their last League One outing.

A win could move Oldham up to third in the table, depending on the outcome of Doncaster and Workington’s fixture. Cornwhile, meanwhile, currently sit 8th in the division, two points above both North Wales Crusaders and London Skolars.

One player desperate to make an impact on Sunday will be Oldham winger Patrick Ah Van – the veteran is just one score away from reaching an impressive 150 career tries.

Away from the North, London Skolars travel to fifth-placed Midlands Hurricanes, in what a promises to be an intriguing affair.

The Hurricanes have one win to their name so far this season, whilst the Skolars currently lie bottom having lost all five of their league fixtures in 2023.

However, the Skolars camp will be full of positive spirits and aiming to secure their first win of the campaign, which could potentially move them off the foot of the table.

The visitors will also be boosted by the fact they did win the last meeting between the two sides, a 38-34 victory in August 2022.

Finally, Rochdale Hornets lock horns with North Wales Crusaders at the Crown Oil Arena. Just two points separate the sides, with North Wales still in search of their first points in 2023.

One player who could feature for the Hornets is Umyla Hanley, son of Rugby League legend Ellery. The 21-year-old fullback signed for the club on a short-term loan deal from Leigh Leopards this week.
