Betfred League One Round-Up | Round Six

Dewsbury Rams remain on top of Betfred League One, after Liam Finn’s side produced a dominant home performance against Cornwall.

Finn’s side had won all five matches in the league this season and started strong with a try inside the opening five minutes thanks to Perry Whiteley, who crossed for four tries during the contest.

Davey Dixon and Sam Day both completed hat-tricks in the 78-10 success against Cornwall.

Doncaster survived a second half fightback to beat Oldham.

Elliot Hall, Brad Hey and Tom Halliday all scored for the Dons as they led 16-4 at the break.

Brett Ferres added a further try after the break. The former England international was making his 400th career appearance.

Hall touched down his second of the afternoon on the hour mark, with the two points looking certain for the hosts with the score at 26-4.

Zac Baker, Sean Slater and Jordan Panga scored for Oldham with a ten minute period, to leave the score at 26-22 with seven minutes remaining. However, Richard Horne’s side were able to close out the result to keep their unbeaten league record.

Workington came from behind to narrowly defeat Rochdale Hornets.

Jack Arnold put the Hornets into an early lead, before Jordan Thomson hit back for the visitors.

A double from Lewis Else and a try for Dan Nixon gave the Hornets a 22-4 lead.

Earl Hurst barged his way over just before the break with Town trailing by 14 points.

Ethan Bickerdike and Matty Henson closed the gap, before a penalty levelled the score at the hour mark.

Workington took the lead for the first time, before Nixon grabbed his second of the game. In the final minute, a drop-goal for the visitors saw them return to Cumbria with the two league points.

Jack Render, Harvey Hallas and Jordan Syme all scored braces as Hunslet defeated Midlands Hurricanes.

Hunslet controlled the contest, with the West Yorkshire side having a 28-0 lead at the break.

They continued their dominance in the second half, as they added more tries during the 48-6 home win.

The victory sees Hunslet open up a four point gap in fifth on Midlands Hurricanes, who sit one place below them in the Betfred League One table.
